Hurley and Auer Named Adelphi Athletes of The Week

Garden City, N.Y. - Graduate Student Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) and junior Denise Auer (Holbrook, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of September 18, 2006.

Hurley posted a pair of shutouts last week. He opened the week with two saves in a 1-0 win over St. Francis College and followed that up with three saves in the Panthers 1-0 win over regionally ranked Monmouth. For his efforts Hurley was named both Atlantic Soccer Conference Player and Goalie of The Week.

Men's soccer returns to action Tuesday, September 19 when they travel to Stony Brook, New York for a 7:00 pm meeting with the Seawolves.

Auer helped Adelphi to a 1-0 record last week, scoring two goals in the Panthers 3-1 win over East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent Dowling College. Auer, who had three shots, scored both her goals in the first half to give the Panthers a 3-0 cushion heading into halftime. For her efforts Auer was named the Baden Offensive Player of The Week.

Women's soccer returns to action on Wednesday, September 20 when they play host to crosstown rival C.W. Post at 4:00 pm.
