Oct. 9, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Patrick Figueiredo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and freshman Brianne McDonnell (Commack, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Atheletes of the Week for the week of October 8, 2007. Figueiredo posted three goals in two games for the Panthers, helping them to a 1-1-0 record for the week. He tallied his third goal of the season in a hard-fought 4-3 overtime loss to Princeton University on October 3. Figueiredo followed that up by registering both of Adelphi's goals in a 2-1 win over Fordham University on October 7th, giving the Panthers their first victory of the 2007 campaign. For his efforts Figueiredo was named Atlantic Soccer Conference Player of the Week. The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 13 when they play host to Philadelphia University in an ASC match-up scheduled to go off at 1:00 pm. McDonnell helped Adelphi to a 4-1 win over Molloy College on October 3, netting two goals. The two goal game was the first multi-goal effort for McDonnell. For her effort McDonnell was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week. Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, October 9 when they travel to Dobbs Ferry, New York to take on Mercy. |
