Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Jantzen Vargas (Danielson, CT) and freshman Heather Troutman (Whiteford, MD) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of October 16, 2006.

Vargas was Adelphi's top finisher at the STAC Fall Classic, finisher nine strokes behind the winner with a two-round total of 156. At the Dominican Fall Invitational on October 13-14 Vargas was Adelphi's second best finisher with an 18-hole total of 81, helping the Panthers to a third place showing.

Adelphi closed out their season at the STAC Fall Classic, posting their fifth top-ten finish of the fall with an eighth place showing.

Troutman set a collegiate 5K best at the Albany Invitational, covering the 5K course in 21:14. Her time placed her 143rd overall and eclipsed her previous best by 22 seconds. Troutman helped the Panthers to a 16th place team finish out of 22 competing schools.

For her efforts Troutman was named East Coast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week.

Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, October 22 when they take part in the ECC Championship meet at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
