Joplin, MO - Adelphi University junior Ify Anene (Reynoldsburg, OH) traveled to Joplin, Missouri to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Division II National Championship meet on November 17, hosted by Missouri Southern State University. This was Anene's first appearance at the Division II National Championship meet.

Anene placed 79th out of 189 athletes, covering the 6K course in 22:33.5. Anene's time made her just the fourth finisher from the Northeast Region and is 33 seconds faster then her previous best at that distance.

"I'm extremely proud of Ify and her effort today," Head Coach Adam Siepiola said. "She got off the line well and raced hard. Ify worked hard all season and represented her team and Adelphi well."

Anene closed out her most successful season in an Adelphi uniform. During the 2007 campaign Anene captured two individual titles, winning the NYU Invitational and the East Coast Conference Championship meet. She was named the ECC Runner of the Year and earned All-Northeast Region honors after placing fourth at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional. Anene is also the first female runner to qualify for Nationals as an individual.
