May 31, 2006 Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University and Athletic Director, Robert Hartwell have announced the hiring of Adam Siepiola as head coach of the men's and women's cross-country and track and field programs. In addition to his coaching duties, Siepiola will continue as the coordinator of Athletic Media Relations. Siepiola was an assistant at Adelphi from November of 2003 through November of 2005, working with both the cross-country and track and field programs. Most recently he spent the last six months as an assistant coach with Division I Hofstra University, a program run by former Adelphi Head Coach James Sewell. "I'm extremely proud and excited to take over a program that has such an incredible history of excellence," commented Siepiola. "I look forward to working with the student-athletes and entire Adelphi athletic department to keep the program moving in a positive direction that will carve out our place at the top of the NYCAC and the region." A competitive runner, Siepiola has posted strong results in both the New York City Marathon, placing 133rd overall (2:42.17) and the Boston Marathon, placing 127th (2:39.05). He also won the 2005 running of the Westchester Half Marathon, setting a course record in the process. In addition to his coaching and running experience, Siepiola is certified through USA Track and Field as a level one coach. A native of upstate, New York, Siepiola earned his undergraduate degree from St. John Fisher College in 2003. |
