Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University cross-country is hosting the NCAA Division II Cross-Country Northeast Regional on Saturday, November 3 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York. The women's 6K championship race will go off at 11 am, followed by the men's 10K championship race at noon.

Last year Umass-Lowell captured the men's crown with Stonehill placing second, the two schools switched spots on the women's side. Chris Croff of Southern Connecticut State University won the men's individual title, covering the 10K course in a time of 30:52.5 to pick up Runner of the Year honrs. The women's individual championship was won by Nicole Plante of Umass-Lowell, who out distanced the field by 59 seconds (21:28.3) to collect female Runner of the Year accolades.

Three of the regions men's teams enter the regional ranked among the nation's top-25 programs in the latest USTFCCCA poll. Umass-Lowell checked in at #12, followed by Stonehill (#13) and Southern Connecticut State (#21). Those three teams will fight for the regions two National qualifying spots, while NYIT's Kigen Evans, UMass-Lowell's Ruben Sanca and Stephen DeWitt will battle Stonehill's David Metzger and Joe Ryan for the individual title.

Stonehill is the lone women's team ranked among the nation's top-25 teams in the latest poll, checking in at #21. Stonehill is followed in the regional poll by Umass-Lowell, Bentley and Adelphi. Bryant's Nicole Radzik , Bentley's Melissa Nash, Stonehill's Kristina Coriaty, Umass-Lowell's Christina DaLomba and Lyra Clarke along with Adelphi's Ify Anene will vie for individual honors.

Adelphi is also hosting a 60 years of Cross-Country/Track & Field celebration in conjunction with the regional. Alumni, friends, family and supporters are invited out to the regional and also to a banquet the night of November 3 at Adelphi University.
