Farmville, VA - Adelphi University junior Patrick Figueiredo (Campinas, Brazil/Collegio Visconde De Porto Seguro) was named the 2007 Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Player of the Year on Thursday, November 15, in voting done by the league's coaches. A midfielder, Figueiredo leads the ASC in scoring this season with 26 points, collecting 13 goals in 18 contests for the Panthers, who earned the #3 seed in the ASC tournament. In addition to Figueiredo, first-year Head Coach Carlo Acquista saw freshman forward John Koutsounadis (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) earn the 2007 ASC Rookie of the Year Award. Koutsounadis put together an outstanding freshman campaign for the Panthers, collecting two goals and two assists in 13 games. In addition to Figueiredo, junior defender Mark Hoffman made an appearance on the first-team, while Koutsounadis was a second-team selection. The final major award winner of 2007 went to Florida Atlantic University Head Coach Kos Donev, who was named the ASC Coach of the Year. Donev led his Owls to the ASC regular-season championship with a 4-0-1 record, claiming the top seed for the upcoming ASC Tournament.
