Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University Athletic Director Robert Hartwell announced the hiring of Ed Canner as head men and women's tennis coach on May 29, 2007. The men's team posted a record of 5-4 last year, while the women finished 4-6.

A 1974 graduate of Adelphi University, Canner earned his Master's from Adelphi in 1986. He also obtained a Master's degree from LIU-C.W. Post in 1981 and has spent the last 30 years teaching physical education in Long Beach, New York.

Canner has also managed and instructed at the James J. McCabe tennis facility in Long Beach for the past ten year's and prior to that was an instructor at the John A. Anderson Tennis Facility in Rockville Centre, New York.

Canner is currently an adjunct Professor in the Physical Education Department at Adelphi University.
