Dover, DE - The Adelphi University women's bowling team traveled to Dover, Delaware on Saturday, February 9 to compete in the Delaware State University Capital Classic. The Panthers posted a record of 3-2 and are currently sixth among 14 teams competing. The Day started off against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as the Panthers a thrilling match saw a tie at 923-923 at the end of regulation frames. In a rare one game baker tie-breaker Wisconsin-Whitewater opened the game with five straight strikes but Adelphi answered with seven straight to finish the game with the victory 257-223. Strong efforts were turned in by Cristina Reale (225), Michelle Montgoris (204), and Danielle Locurto (195). In the second game the Panthers took on Cheyney State and lead by Valerie Passaniti (214) and Heather McGee (222) claimed a 952-579 victory. Match three featured strong games from Reale (200), Montgoris (200), Locurto (193), and McGee (203) to drop 966 pins but it was not enough as Delaware State fell 1044 pins. Howard University out shot the Panthers 886-897 in the fourth match of the day. In their final game of the day Adelphi took on #6 NJCU, out rolling the Knights, 920-914 on the strength of Molenko (222), Reale (181), Jennifer Ferraro (188). The Panthers also got a boost from Montgoris, who fell 29 pins in the 10th frame. Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, February 10 when they close out play at the Capital Classic. |
