In 2001, at just 23 years of age, Head Coach Jill Lessne-Solomon began building the Adelphi University Women's Lacrosse program. She is now in her seventh year at the helm of the extremely successful Panther program. Through her six seasons, she has guided the Panthers to two National Championships, a 66-16 overall record and coached 17 All-Americans.

The 2006 season proved to be the most successful in program history as Lessne-Solomon guided the Panthers to its second NCAA title in three years. The Panthers rode a 14 game win streak to a new school record for most wins in a season (16). The championship squad boasted five All-Americans, six All-North Region and 10 All-East Coast Conference (ECC) selections. Lessne-Solomon was voted the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) DII National Coach of the Year for her achievements.

Voted the number one Divison II program by Lacrosse Magazine's 2005 preseason poll, the Panthers made a repeat trip to the NCAA Final Four finishing the season with a then school record of 14 wins. That year she was honored by the Nassau County Sports Commission as the Female Coach of the Year.

The 2004 lacrosse season marked the first time a women's sport at Adelphi University won a National title when Lessne-Solomon led the Panthers to an NCAA Division II National Championship victory. Her team concluded the season 13-1 and garnered four All-Americans. For her coaching achievements, the IWLCA, as well as Inside Lacrosse named Lessne-Solomon the Division II Coach of the Year. In addition, the Panthers finished the 2004 season ranked in the top three in every NCAA statistical category.

In 2003, Lessne-Solomon's team showed signs of a successful program as the Panthers concluded their season with a 9-2 record. Despite being edged out of the 2003 NCAA Tournament, the Panthers finished in the top five in all NCAA statistical categories, which included a number one ranking in scoring defense.

Lessne-Solomon 's coaching success began in 2001 as she guided the newly formed varsity team to 4-6 inaugural season. In 2002, Lessne-Solomon led the Panthers to an 11-4 season, including a seven game winning streak.

In addition to the team's athletic success, Lessne-Solomon's student-athletes excel scholastically in the classroom. In 2004, Lessne-Solomon 's team was honored with achieving the highest Grade Point Average of all the participating teams at the NCAA Division II National Championship Festival in Orlando, Florida for both male and female sport programs. In 2005, the team was recognized by the IWLCA with a National Academic Merit Award for a 3.34 cumulative grade point average.

Lessne-Solomon received her Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from Temple University in 2000. As a member of their collegiate lacrosse team, Lessne-Solomon played an attack wing/third home for the Temple Owls. In her freshman season her team advanced to the NCAA Final Four.

A native of Levittown, NY, Lessne-Solomon participated in four years of lacrosse and tennis at MacArthur High School, graduating in 1995. She received All-County and All-Conference honors in lacrosse.

Lessne-Solomon is in her seventh year as an Elementary School teacher in the West Hempstead UFSD, and she teaches fourth grade. In addition, in 2003 she received her Masters in Literacy at Adelphi University. Lessne-Solomon is currently earning her second Masters degree, this time in Leadership and Technology (School Administration) at Adelphi.

In 2005, she married assistant coach Dane Solomon and in October, 2006 their son, Mason, was born.
